Obituary of Viola Battiest

Viola Battiest, age 65 of Wright City, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her residence. She was born on September 18, 1945 in Talihina, Oklahoma. A faithful member of Bible Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School for over 30 years. She was a great cook and loved cooking for preachers. She was a wonderful grandma and she loved watching her grandkids playing ball. She especially enjoyed holidays spending time with her family. She worked at the gift shop at the Wheelock Museum. She truly enjoyed her work. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hampton and Frances Ott Williams; son, Delvis Battiest; brothers, Sonny Williams and Donell Williams; sister, Lucille Seely. Viola leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Luther Battiest Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Luther Battiest Jr. and Lawrence and Gloria Battiest all of Wright City, Randy Battiest of Wylie, TX, Gary Battiest and Daniel and LaDonna Battiest of Wright City; brothers and sister-in-law, Timothy and Vivian Williams and Marcus Williams all of Idabel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lydia and Mike McClure and Rose and Jim Shemwell all of Idabel; Loretta and Ivan Battiest of Broken Bow, Bonnie and J.B. Feathers of Stillwell and Rita and Clayton Anna of Wright City; 16 grandchildren; 1 aunt, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her church family. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Wright City High School Auditorium with Bro. Luther Battiest Sr. and Bro. Woody Godby officiating. Interment will follow at Slater Memorial Cemetery. A wake service will be held Sunday evening at 6:00p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church in Wright City.
