Obituary of Billy Sam Loftin

Billy Sam Loftin, age 54, the Fire Chief of Idabel passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Idabel. He was born on February 3, 1954 in Paris, Texas, the son of W.A. and Doris Childers Loftin. Billy Sam had worked for the Idabel Fire Department for twenty years serving as Chief for the last eleven. He loved his job and his fellow firefighters, and was excited about all the new equipment and training the Department had received in the last few years. Billy Sam himself had received several hours of training in Fire Service at Oklahoma State University and was a certified first responder and rescue diver. He was also a longtime City Electrical Inspector. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Billy Sam was saved as a child at the Watermill Freewill Baptist Church. He was a lifetime resident of Idabel. He was preceded in death by his parents. Billy Sam is survived by his sisters, Cathy Davis of Rogers, Arkansas, Nancy Childers and Mary Ann Childers both of Idabel; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, a host of friends, and many brother firefighters.
