Obituary of Charles Compton

Charles “Charley” William Compton, age 68 passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Idabel. He was born on January 1, 1943 in the Honey Grove Community, the son of Frank and Thelma Compton. Charles moved with his family to the Oak Hill Community at the age of three. It was there that he grew up and attended Oak Hill Elementary School and Broken Bow High School. Later, he moved to Dallas, TX where he attended Adamson High School. Charles moved to California in 1961 where he met and married Violet Ann Bradshaw. He worked in the timber industry in California until he returned to the Broken Bow area in 1989. His favorite hobby was small engine repair. He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Charlene; and his brothers, Lester Carroll Compton and Donald Wayne Compton. Charles is survived by his brother, James Arnold Compton of McComb, MS; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Henry Harwell of Sachse, TX and Nina and Erwin Underwood of Broken Bow; his beloved dog, Molly; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the White Family Chapel with Rev. Greg Camp officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery in the Honey Grove Community.
