Obituary of Laura Bell Gamble

Laura Bell Gamble, 87, of Broken Bow, passed away March 31, 2008 in Broken Bow. She was born April 8, 1920 in the Redland Community, the daughter of John and Lillian McCain Robey. Laura Bell was a Gold Star mother, as her son, Dexter Gamble Jr., was killed in Vietnam. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers, and was an accomplished seamstress making many of her children’s clothing. She was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dexter Gamble, sons, Dexter Gamble Jr. and Marvin Gamble, sisters, Judy Allen, Gladys Dungan, and grandson, Ricky Don Gamble. Laura Bell is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Bobby Gamble and Jerry and Betty Gamble, all of Broken Bow, Mike and Vicky Gamble of Idabel, and David Gamble of Denison, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Robert Peavy of McAlester, Janis and Gary Patton of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Gladys Elrod, Charlotte Gamble, Kay and Gordon Johnson, Faye and Sherman Dixson, and Mae and Ethan Pierce, all of Broken Bow, and Valerie Ross of Idabel; brother, Buddy Robey of Albuquerque, New Mexico; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
