Obituary of Clifford Shelton

Clifford Shelton, age 78, of Broken Bow, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Broken Bow. He was born on August 14, 1929 in Shinewell, the son of Clarence Jackson and Myrtle Vanscoder Shelton. Clifford was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was an avid reader and studier of the bible and was a dedicated Christian. Clifford was a talented wood craftsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren whom he spoiled rotten. Cliford was a lifetime resident of McCurtain county. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Marvin Lee Shelton; and two sisters, Betty Jo Watson and Della Jean Hill. Clifford is survived by his wife, Laverne Shelton of Broken Bow; sons and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Brenda Shelton of Wickes, Arkansas, and Michael Shelton of Golden; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Ray Cockrell of the Hollycreek Community, and Belinda and Marty Foshee of Broken Bow; grandchildren, Gina Short, Becky Eeds, Amanda Davis, Rae Lyn Walls, Rusty Cockrell, and C.J. Bruce Shelton; brothers, Vernon Shelton of Eagletown, Olin Shelton of the Redland Community, Charles Shelton of Benton, Arkansas, Emmitt Shelton of Ore City, Texas, Roger Dale Shelton of the Redland community, Larry Shelton of Mineola, Texas; Sisters, Inez Brumfield of Eagletown, Evelean Davis of the Redland Community, and Shirley Davis of Eagletown; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
