Obituary of Joan Baker

Joan “Tommye Sue” Baker, age 76, of Garvin passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008. She was born November 23, 1931 in Idabel, the daughter of Otto and Bertha Wendt Barrett. Tommye Sue married Bob Baker on June 5, 1955 in Warrenton, Virginia. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. Tommye Sue was a wonderful homemaker, and an excellent cook. She was a talented painter and had won several contests with her paintings. Tommye Sue was retired from Oklahoma Department of Human Services where she had worked for many years. She enjoyed gardening, was affiliated with the Baptist Faith, and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. Tommye Sue was a devoted wife, mother, and especially grandmother helping to raise some of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Michael Baker, and Cameron Baker; a granddaughter, Samantha Francis Baker; and a brother, Cletus Barrett. Tommye Sue is survived by her husband, Bob Baker of Garvin; sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Robin Baker of Glover, and Paul Baker of Garvin; a daughter, Tommye Sue McCutcheon of Garvin; grandchildren, Nikki and husband Joey DeFalco of Broken Arrow, Mykee LeForce of Broken Bow, Kyle McCutcheon of Garvin, Andy McCutcheon of Garvin, Lindsay Jo Baker of Glover, Ashlynn Baker of Garvin, Titus Dollar of Idabel, and Jasmine Sherrell of Idabel. Ariel Leforce of Broken Bow; a great-grandchild, Landen McCutcheon of Garvin; a sister, Margie Be Be Peters; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
