Obituary of Lucille Smith

Lucille Smith, 86, of Idabel passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Idabel. She was born September 9, 1921, the daughter of C.E. and Susie Shields Robinson. Lucille worked many years in Idabel as a beautician at the Canary Beauty Shop. After she and her husband moved to Lawton, Oklahoma she attended Cameron University and received her degree in elementary education at the age of 50. Lucille taught 3rd grade at Lukfata for 15 years and during that time earned a master’s degree in special education from Southeastern. She loved teaching and always took pride in her students and their accomplishments. She loved to travel and after retiring from her teaching career she traveled all over the world, enjoying numerous tours. Lucille loved seeing different cultures, places, and really enjoyed meeting different people. Lucille was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idabel and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years Hugh Smith in 1983; a brother, Clarence Robinson; and a sister, Virginia Black. Lucille leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Nelda Smith of Broken Bow; grandchildren and spouses, Tracy and Glenn Bawcum of Paris, and Stephanie and John Callaham of Broken Bow; great-grandchildren, Alec Bawcum, Andi Bawcum, and Marc Bawcum all of Paris, and Jake Callaham and Jules Callaham both of Broken Bow; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Casey and Eunice Robinson of Yukon; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
