Obituary of Drew Nix

William Drew Nix, age 96, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Idabel. He was born on December 30, 1911 in Stamps, Arkansas, the son of William Barney Nix and Fannie Mae Bridges Nix. Drew was a retired building contractor. He built many custom homes, churches, and professional buildings in McCurtain County. Drew loved fishing and was well known at Pine Creek Lake for his big red deck boat and camper. He enjoyed gardening, especially raising potatoes to give to his family. Drew lived most of his life in the Honey Grove Community, coming from Stamps, Arkansas at the age of twelve. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ludie Nix; and a son Carroll Dean Nix. Drew is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Eugenia (Nickie) and Jim Green of Wake Village, Texas; her grandchildren and spouses, Anthony and Ann Zulch of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Jason and Jana Green of Wake Village, Texas, and Jamie Green of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Green of Wake Village, Texas, and Ashlee Zulch of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; brothers-in-law, Byrl Long of Athens, Texas and Alvin and Juanita Edwards of the Honey Grove Community; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
