Obituary of Charles Green

Charles Green, 79, of Idabel passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Texarkana, Texas. He was born in Moon on June 8, 1928, the son of John and Fannie Mae Reid Green. Charles was raised in the Moon area, graduated from Haworth High School in 1946 and earned his Master’s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He married Clara Butler on August 1, 1959. Charles was a teacher and taught at Sunray, Texas for 28 of his 35 years of teaching. He was also a licensed auctioneer and a timber farmer. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Charles was a 32nd degree Master Mason and was very active in Free Masonry for 58 years. He was a member of Bokhoma Lodge #429 and had previously held all offices in the lodge. He was this area’s only Oklahoma Medal of Honor Lifetime “A” Certificate holder. Charles was Deputy Grand Lecturer to the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma for several years. He was an honorary member of Idabel Lodge #264 and was the Representative of Grand Lodge of Oklahoma to the Phillipines. He enjoyed boxing, fishing, bullriding, and teaching Masonry to newcomers. He was preceded in death by his parents; and was the youngest of ten brothers and sisters all of whom preceded him in death. Charles is survived by his wife, Clara D. Green of Idabel; children, Henry E. Green of Greenville, Texas, Felicia G. Williams of Garland, Texas, and Rayburn W. Green of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a grandchild, Pvt. John R. Williams USMC; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Bokhoma Cemetery.
