Obituary of Maurice Johnson

Maurice Johnson, 81, of Harris Community, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2007 at Idabel. She was born March 22, 1926 at Haworth, the daughter of William D. and Lena Harris Long. She was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. On June 1, 1946 she married Odell Johnson at LaJunta, Colorado where she spent a brief period of time and then returned home to McCurtain County. She attended Tom Baptist Church until her health no longer permitted. However, she and her husband were ministered to at their home by the late Rev. James Carrell. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was very special to Maurice. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Kirby, Jewell Holder, William F. “Bill” Long; sister, Ruby Johnson; son-in-law, Mike Hadley. Maurice is survived by her husband, Odell Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law, Dannie Joe and Sherrie Johnson of Cooper, TX and Gerald and Benet Johnson of Idabel; daughter, Rita Hadley of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Andrea Slakey and Karla Horton of Cooper, TX, Tina Sievers of Cedar Falls, IA, Chrystal Stamm of Conroe, TX, William Johnson of Walnut Creek, CA, Levi Johnson of Idabel; 5 great-grandchildren; special friend, Vada Green; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
