Obituary of James Carrell

Reverend James Carrell, 70, of the Pleasant Hill Community passed away October 26, 2007 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital. He was born November 29, 1936 the son of John and Pauline Hudgins Carrell. On December 5, 1992 he married Vickie Vance at Pleasant Hill. Starting his career as a minister, he pastored in many different towns including Ft. Smith, AR, Starville, TX, Albion, TX, Racetrac, Battiest, Lynn Lane Assembly of God in Idabel and the Pleasant Hill Community Church where he remained for 25 years. Aside from his ministry in the church, Rev. Carrell cared for many people outside of the church. It was his passion to help people who couldn’t help themselves, either physically or spiritually. He made a special point to check on people who lived in his neighborhood, just to make sure they were safe and taken care of. In his free time he enjoyed family gatherings, hunting, fishing, playing music, singing and carpentry. Rev. Carrell is survived by his wife, Vicky Carrell of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Dena Carrell of Valliant, Gabe and Andrea Carrell of Neosho, Missouri, Michael and Carol Carrell of Haworth, Perry Carrell of Kansas City, Missouri, Curtis and Mayra Ferrell of Redfield, Arkansas; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Harvey Moore of Garfield, Arkansas, JoAnna and Rev. Robert Haynes of Ft. Towson, Angie and Rev. Robert Dodds of Pleasant Hill Community, Elizabeth Leader of Braggs, Oklahoma, Victoria and Clay Hattabaugh of Redland, Stephanie and Calvin Friend of Haworth, Jessica and David Resnick of Haworth; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Jane Carrell, Roger and Rita Carrell, Donnie and Gladys Carrell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Staggs, Shirley Franks, Judy and Wendell Rice, Jewell and Jimmy Richardson, Janie Rice, Christine and Jack Carrell; 31 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He will always be remembered by those who’s lives he touched.
