Obituary of Madie Peters

Madie”Mama Madie” Taylor Peters, born June 18, 1911 to Ed and Fanny Moore, was called home on Monday, October, 22, 2007 A member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Idabel, Madie led a life based on faith, love and grace. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gracie Medlin and Jewel Shupert; brother, Joe Moore; first husband, Amos Taylor; second husband, Roy Peters; sons, Ralph Peters and C.O. “Buddy” Taylor; niece, Norma Jo Stewart; nephews, Buck Lambert and Earl Medlin; daughters-in-law, Bea Taylor and Hazel Peters. Madie’s first husband, Amos, brought to her family beloved son, Otis, “Buddy” Taylor and daughter, Novelle Townsend. Her second husband, Roy, brought another son, Ralph Peters. Madie’s family increased through the years to include grandsons, John Townsend, Jim Townsend, Joe Townsend and Benny Peters; granddaughters, Diane Peters, Jackie Micou and Judy Payne. Later, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren enriched her life with joy and love. Many nieces and nephews, all whom which were special to her, filled her heart with love. Her family, friends and neighbors will miss her warmth and grace and cherish the memories of cakes, pies and her famous hushpuppies served over the years, at her café “The Fish House” and later at her home. Her heart was true and constant with faith, love and grace. Madie will be greatly missed by all who shared her life.
