Obituary of Alma Edson

Alma Edson was born on June 13, 1921 in Lone Wolf, OK to Myrtle and Lucius Seals and passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Broken Bow, OK. She married Merle Edson on April 5, 1941 in Dill City, Oklahoma.

Alma lived a long life, experiencing the dust bowl and depression of western Oklahoma. She was a talented seamstress and wonderful cook. She and Merle lived in Shawnee, OK from 1950 to 1981 when they moved to McCurtain county. They operated Alma’s Rock Shop until Merle’s death in 1993. Merle and Alma were active members of the local Gems & Minerals Club. They loved to travel and had a long and loving marriage. Alma was a special “Granny” to her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle; sister, Dee and brother, John.

Alma is survived by her daughters and husbands, Jeanie and Earnest Kelly of Idabel, OK, and Linda and Craig Hamilton of Idabel, OK; grandchildren, Johnny and Sherry Kelly of Forney, TX, Kelli and Kary Brumley of Idabel, OK, Jeremiah and Chrissy Hamilton of Ada, OK, Jessica Hamilton and Paul Henry of Idabel, OK, Zachary Hamilton of Kenosha, WI, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the White Family Chapel. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery.
