Obituary of Dony Bell "Doris" McClure

Dony Bell “Doris” McClure, age 79 of Idabel, OK passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019, at Idabel. She was born on December 5, 1939 in the Goodwater Community, OK, to John McClure and Eleanor McKinney McClure.                                               

          Doris was a homemaker. She was a devout Christian and a longtime faithful member of the Holiness Assembly Church in Idabel. She was very proud of her Choctaw Heritage and enjoyed speaking and teaching the Choctaw language to others. Doris enjoyed eating and activities at the Choctaw Community Center as well as the trips she took with them to places like, Tuskahoma. 

          She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Paulette McClure and Pearlene McClure; and brothers, Paul McClure and Joseph McClure.

Doris is survived by her son, Steven “Sam” McClure, of Calera, OK; daughter, Evelyn Lewis and husband, Nathan of Broken Bow, OK; a special nephew, Chris Martinez and wife, Jessica of Idabel, OK; brothers, Preston McClure, of Lawrence, KS and Saulton McClure of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters, Wilma Walker, of Alvion, OK, Clara Powell and Kathleen McClure both of California; grandchildren, Nathaniel Lewis Jr., Waylon Lewis, Marcy Bridges, Leann Lewis, Emily Martinez and Chelsea Coffman; special friends, Reverend Phillip Snow and wife, Sherry; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

            Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday 19, 2109 at the Holiness Assembly Church with Rev. Philip Snow officiating. Interment will follow at the Philadelphia Cemetery.

          The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday 18, 2019, at the Holiness Assembly Church, 1300 NW Indian, Idabel, OK.
