Obituary of DeRoy McKinney

DeRoy McKinney, age 76 of Haworth, OK passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Plano, TX. He was born on June 21, 1942 in Idabel, OK, the son of  Robinson and Georgia Sampson McKinney. He married his wife Margaret in Idabel, OK on February 4, 1973.  

DeRoy was a veteran of the US Army. He retired from the Red River Army Depot and the Wheelock Academy. DeRoy also worked at Bill's Body Shop for many years. In his younger years he was a very talented baseball pitcher. An avid deer hunter he also enjoyed taking his sons fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Eriss McKinney and Diana Harris; a brother, Raymond Brandy; sister-in-law, Mona Salinas; and brothers-in-law, Nathan Holt, Bert Holt and Nathaniel Holt.

DeRoy leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 45 years, Margaret of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Bane Morris of Octavia, OK;  sons and daughter-in-law, Donovan and Kim McKinney of Broken Bow, OK and Sean Fox of Tom, OK; sisters, Hannah Blackowl and Ernestine Courson both of Idabel, OK; special great-granddaughter, LeAndra Carter; special niece, Kim Holt; brothers-in-law, Joel Holt, Douglas Maytubbi and Alan and Beth Holt; sister-in-law, Lorene Lajuenesse; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Rev. Edgel Samuel officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Kulli Tuklo Cemetery.
