Obituary of Arvle Peevy

Arvle Peevy, 95, of Broken Bow, passed away Friday, September 21, 2007 at Broken Bow Nursing Home. He was born September 9, 1912 at Red Oak Community, near McAlester, OK, the son of Newton and Ida Mae Stovall Peevy. On September 2, 1933 he married Violet Marvin at Antlers, OK. He was affiliated with the Pine Top Missionary Baptist Church. For most of his lifetime, Arvle worked the timber industry hauling logs and running his own sawmill. He worked for the county until his retirement at the age of 65. Arvle went back to work for the county after he retired until 1977. He enjoyed hunting, camping and was an exceptional gardener. At the age of 33, he was drafted into the United States Army during WWII, however, the war ended soon and he was never deployed. He did his training at Ft. Sill and Camp Chaffee. Arvle was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Violet Marvin Peevy; brothers, Jess Sanders and Willie Hickman; sisters, Viola Lee and Mae Peevy; granddaughter, Amy Cox; grandson, Donald Wayne Gray; great-great-grandson, Nathan Conner. Arvle is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Lois Peevy, Donald and Georgia Peevy, Alton and Judy Peevy, Alvin “Bud” and Jane Peevy all of Broken Bow, Roy and Betty Peevy of Hochatown; daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Sam Joiner of Broken Bow, Sue and Bruce Cox, of Beaver, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Hazel Hickman of Idabel; sisters and brother-in-law, Nellie and Max Temple of Amarillo, TX, Lillie Bell Holland of California; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
