Obituary of Rev. Chuck Bates

Rev. Chuck Bates, age 86, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018. He was born on August 12, 1931 in the Redland Community, OK, the son of Clarence Roy Bates and Fannie Taylor Bates.
    

Chuck was an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God. He pioneered the Faith Assembly of God Church of Idabel in 1982 and had served as its pastor for over 35 years. One of the best attributes of his ministry was his mentoring of several young Pastors over the years.  He had a great love for Christ and the sharing of his love.

    He enjoyed spending time on his farm down at Redland and taking care of his cattle.

    Chuck was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and most of all, Christian.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Samuel Wayne Bates; a sister, Juanita Bates; and a brother, Russell Dale Bates. 

     Chuck is survived by his wife, Josie of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Ronnie Bates of Idabel, OK, Rev. Mike Bates and Debbie of Rush Springs, OK and Paul Bates and Tammy of Bowie, TX; daughters and son-in-law, Rev. Glenda Bates, Linda Clowers and Rev. Lester Clowers all of Idabel, OK; a daughter-in-law, Joy Bates of Tulsa, OK; sister, Alene Wicker of Idabel, OK; brother and sister-in-law, John Bates and Jean of Liberty Hill, TX; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and church members.
