Obituary of Nancy Irons

Nancy Irons, age 85, of Bakersfield, California passed away after a short illness on September 4, 2007. She was born in Broken Bow on July 18, 1922 the daughter of Marvin and Emma Harkey. Her childhood was spent helping her parents on their farm in Broken Bow. She spent a brief stint as a welder in the San Francisco shipping yards during WWII, returning to Oklahoma where she married her husband, Deputy-Sheriff Walter Irons (and later sheriff) in 1945. The two of them, along with their daughters, moved to California in the 1950’s. Nancy spent the last 20 years prior to her retirement as a beautician. During her retirement years, she enjoyed the love of her family especially her 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Irons; parents; 3 brothers, Kyle, Clement and Irwin; sister Ivadel Harkey. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Smith and husband, Thomas of Sequim, WA, Marcia Fulkerson and husband, David of Bakersfield, CA and Doris Greer and husband, Calvin
