Obituary of Simon Amos

Simon Amos, age 90 passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 in Tulsa, OK.  He was born on April 6, 1927 in Garvin, OK, the son of Wesley and Lucy Charles Amos.

He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. Simon worked for the Weyerhaeuser Saw Mill for 25 years. He also farmed, raised cattle and horses.

He enjoyed hunting and camping during deer season. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Simon was a longtime member of the Bokchito Church where he served as Church Treasurer.  He was active with the Choctaw Nation exercise class and Wednesday luncheons. Simon enjoyed eating at the Gemini and enjoyed the company of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son George; brothers Sexton, Dan and William “Bill” Amos; and a niece, Orvella Harjo.

Simon leaves to cherish his memory; sisters Charlene Kilpatrick of Durant, OK and Katherine Goombi and husband, Bob of Eudora, KS; sisters-in law; Louise Amos of Garvin, OK and Odessa Amos of Oklahoma City, OK; special friends Alline Johnson, Maxine Johnson and James Earl Johnson; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A wake service will be held from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the White Family Chapel.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the White Family Chapel with Bro. Tommy Wesley and Bro. Eastman Jessie officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Denison Cemetery.
