Obituary of Elton Ray Baker

            Elton Ray Baker, Sr., age 77, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at his home in Idabel, OK.

            He was born on December 27, 1939 and has been married to Josephine for 58 years.  Elton worked all his adult life and  worked 25 years for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, until he was forced to quit due to health issues.

            Elton loved being outside and loved sports.  He played baseball and basketball.  He also loved hunting, watching and spending time with his kids and grandkids.  He loved watching the OU Sooners play football and secretly loved Texas.

            He grew up in and around the Battiest and Bethel areas.  Many of his friends called him Ray.  Elton loved joking around and was always there to help friends and family however they needed him.  Elton looked forward to attending the Choctaw Labor Day Festival in Tushkahoma.

            Elton was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.

 

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Ollie Baker; one son, Elton Boy Boy Ray Baker Jr., brothers, Jimmy Dale Baker, Tommy Baker and Charlie Baker; and two sisters, Rena Baker and Olla Mae Baker.

 

            Survivors include his wife, Josephine Baker of the home; Sharon Grass of Idabel, OK, Donald and Anita Baker of Watson, OK, Barbara and her husband Mike Sands of Okemah, OK, Cheryl Duckett of Tulsa, OK and Silas Baker of Okemah, OK.  Elton has 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
