Obituary of W.F. Griggs

W. F. Griggs, 78, of Idabel, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007 in Oklahoma City. He was born February 12, 1929 in Frogville, OK, the son of Leroy and Vera Griggs. W.F. married Anna Ellis in Hugo on July 3, 1954. W. F. was retired from the Idabel Fire Department. He was an electrician, working as a lineman for PSO, and later owning and operating Griggs Electric for many years. He joined the First Baptist Church soon after moving to Idabel 53 years ago. He loved his church very much, and was very active serving as a deacon. W. F. was a 32nd degree Mason, and an avid quail hunter. He enjoyed trail riding on horseback with his buddies. W.F. was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and seven sisters. W. F. is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anna Griggs, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea Griggs and husband John of Harrah, and Carol Gillham and husband Bob of Broken Bow; grandchildren, Lea Ann Campbell of Dallas, Ryan Gillham and Morgan Prim, both of Oklahoma City, and Rachel Gillham of Edmond; a great-grand-dog, Chelsea; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church in Idabel.
