Obituary of Raymond Fred Miller

Raymond Miller, Jr., 77 of Idabel, passed away on September 14, 2010 at Oklahoma City. He was born November 20, 1932 at Valliant, the son of Amanda Marie and Raymond Fred Miller, Sr. He was of the Baptist faith. On October 17, 1957 he married Frances Miller at DeQueen, Arkansas. The couple made their home in McCurtain County. A retired member of the United States Marine Corp, Ray served 22 years before retiring. After his retirement he worked in local law enforcement as a Police Officer for the City of Idabel and also a Sherriff’s Deputy. He thoroughly enjoyed his duties of law enforcement. A major “Rock Hound”, Ray loved collecting gem’s and minerals and was a member of the Gem and Mineral Club. He loved reading, especially his Bible. He also enjoyed photography and developing pictures. He had worked at the McCurtain Gazette for a brief time. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Deborah Gail Miller and Fern Marie Miller; brothers, Voyen Miller and Bobby Miller. Ray leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Fran Miller of the Home; son, Raymond Miller III of Idabel; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Dwayne Semrad of El Reno, OK; granddaughter, Brandi Semrad of El Reno, OK; sisters, Jeannie Miller of Valliant, Sue Smith of Washington, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the White Family Chapel. Interment will follow at the Valliant Cemetery with Bro. Troy Ruffin officiating.
