Obituary of Annie LaVerne Hoffman

Annie Hoffman, age 87, of Oklahoma City, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Oklahoma City. She was born November 14, 1922 in the Shultz Community just east of Idabel, OK, the daughter of Clarence Ellis and Leola Phillips Potts. Annie attended Haworth Schools as a young girl before moving to Mt. Pleasant, TX where she graduated high school. She married George Douglas Hoffman on June 4, 1939. They moved to Crane, TX in 1943, where they made their home until his death in 1967 and she returned to Oklahoma. Annie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Portland Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Annie was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Ellis and Leola Phillips Potts; husband, George Douglas Hoffman; brothers, C.E. Potts Jr. and G.L. Potts; and a sister, Norma Lee Courtney. Annie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Ann and Irvin Hays of Oklahoma City, Linda Gail and Harvel Edwards of Crane, TX and Susan L. Strang of Abilene, TX; grandchildren and spouses, Dr. Wesley H. and Nancy Boothe of Anadarko, OK, Lance H. and Jencie Edwards of Crane, TX, Lt. Col. Douglas K. and Gaye Watkins of Ft. Leavenworth, KS, Samantha and Terry Bankhead of Longview, TX, Brenda R. and David Ingwald of New Hope, MN and Ellen M. Strang of San Angelo, TX; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen and Jamie Boothe all of Anadarko, OK, Sarah Skolfield and Perry Edwards both of Crane, TX, Elaine Truitt of College Station, TX and Hannah and Joseph Watkins both of Ft. Leavenworth, KS; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel. Interment will follow at Denison Cemetery in Idabel. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
