Obituary of Betty Ann Haughney

Betty Haughney, age 73, of Idabel, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at her residence in Idabel. She was born August 25, 1936 in the Redland Community the daughter of Randolph and Anna Beth Brown Crowell. Betty was a 1954 graduate of Idabel Gray High School. After graduation she attended Draughn Business College in Dallas, Texas. Betty worked for the U.S. Civil Service as a security manager at Ft. Sill Army Base in Lawton, OK. After retiring Betty went to work for the Oklahoma Tourism Commission as a tour guide at Ft. Sill, a job Betty thoroughly enjoyed. Moving back to Idabel in 1998 she would later serve 2 years as secretary at the By-Pass Church of Christ. Betty was a member of the By-Pass Church of Christ. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas J. Haughney; and a son, Pogee Holder. Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Dave Evans of Norman, Arkansas; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Debbie Holder of Monterey, Louisiana; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ailean Harris of Idabel, Jean Monday of Wasilla, Alaska, Geraldine and Donald Bates of the Goodwater Community and Mary and James Mills of Idabel; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the By-Pass Church of Christ in Idabel with Jim Mashburn and Boyd Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Denison Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
