Obituary of Leon Mills

Leon Mills, age 75 of Idabel passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at his residence. He was born on October 19, 1935 in the Redland Community, OK, the son of Emett and Dovie Shropshire Mills. Leon worked as a roughneck in the oil fields as a young man. He later worked several years for Mills Concrete Co. in Idabel. Leon was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Germany and also during the Cuban Missle Crisis. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Geneva Beatrice Mills and Dewanda Sue Mills. Leon is survived by his daughters, Tina Chaney of Oklahoma City and Marcie Diane Harris of Amarillo, TX; sisters and brother-in-law, Leatrice and Phillip Coffman of the Redland Community and Barbara Mills of Idabel; brother and sister-in-law, Emmett and Marjorie Mills of Broken Bow; grandchildren, Amy Farni, Samelia Farni, Chelsea Chaney, Nicholas Chaney, Chad Harris and Miranda Harris; a special friend, Jean McKelvey of Oklahoma City; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the White Family Chapel with Victor Balagbagan officiating. Interment will follow at the Redland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the funeral home.
