Obituary of Melba Ruth McMullan
Melba Ruth McMullan, age 98 passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Idabel, OK. She was born on May 12, 1920 in Searcy, AR, the daughter of Willard Elton Carder and Jewel Mosely Carder.
Melba worked at the Idabel National Bank for many years and retired from there as a Vice President. She was an accomplished homemaker. Melba crocheted many afghans for her family. She hosted many family holidays and was noted for her Christmas divinity and apple cake. Melba was a member of the First Baptist Church and had lived most of her adult life in Idabel.
Melba loved her family and helping others. She loved to travel, dance and laugh. One of her favorite activities was listening to her grandchildren sing and watching them perform and play sports.
Melba went from riding street cars in Dallas, TX to riding horses on a ranch in Southeast Oklahoma. She was sweet as honey and tough as nails.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, MV "Mac" McMullan; and 2 brothers, Guy Carder and Glenn Carder.
Melba Ruth is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and David R Brown of Idabel, OK and Cindy and Norman Young of Riverton, WY; grandchildren, Jon Ed and Cindy Brown of Ft Towson, OK, Doug and Debbie Brown of Idabel, OK, Jennifer and Tyler Reece and Jessica and Chris Stanbury all of Casper, WY; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 18, 2019 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Idabel with Dr. Andy Bowman and Judge Norman Young officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
