Obituary of Lela Mixon

Lela Mixon, age 98 passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Idabel, OK. She was born on February 8, 1920 in Idabel, OK, the daughter of Buck and Vessie Flowers.

Lela was an accomplished homemaker. She enjoyed weekends at the lake and traveling in the RV with her husband Howard and their friends. In later years she traveled extensively with family and especially enjoyed the many trips to Colorado. She was an active member of the Idabel First United Methodist Church until her health began to fail. Lela was a lifetime resident of Idabel.

Lela was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed this year at the holiday family gatherings which she loved so much. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Mixon; daughter, Judy Mixon; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Lela is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Kathy Mixon of Idabel, OK; grandchildren, Jeff and Christy Mixon of Ft Worth, TX and Jennifer and Chris Coulter of Kingwood, TX; great-grandchildren, Chloe Coulter and Luke Coulter of Kingwood, TX and Sophie Mixon and Olivia Mixon of Ft Worth, TX; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Family visitation will be Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at  10:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Idabel with Rev. Dale Hill and Rev. Mark Polson officiating. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery.
