Obituary of Robert E Wright

Robert E. (Bob) Wright, age 68, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Dallas, TX. He was born on March 13, 1950 in Idabel, OK, the son of Robert Eugene Wright Sr. and Helen Bernice (Simpson) Wright Roulaine. Bob married his wife Andrea on June 9, 1984 in Idabel, OK.
    Bob grew up on 5th Street in Idabel where his parents operated Wright's Grocery. He was a 1968 graduate of Idabel Gray High School, a 1972 graduate of Oklahoma State University and later received his masters from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
    He began his Vocational Agriculture Teaching Career at Stillwater High School where he spent 4 years before returning to Idabel where he spent the next 38 years teaching at Idabel High School. A strong supporter of the FFA and the McCurtain County Fair. Bob spent countless hours helping young people realize their potential thru Vo Ag. He was a reserve deputy and police officer at the McCurtain County Sheriff's Office and the Idabel Police Dept. After retiring from teaching he worked for the McCurtain County DA's office as an investigator and truancy officer. Bob spent 40 years working for Brinkley Auction's and was also a successful process server.
    Bob was a Master Mason and a 25 year member of the Idabel Masonic Lodge. He worked many auctions and fundraising events and if there was a need in the area more than likely Bob Wright was involved in helping with it. Bob was a member of NWTF and helped to organize their banquets every year.
    An active member of the Idabel First Baptist Church. He served as Asst Sunday School Superintendent and was in charge of their security for Church Services. 
    He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed turkey and deer hunting and along with many close friends was a member of the Cisco Deer Camp and Buckhorn Lodge Hunting Club. A lifetime member of the OSU Alumni Association he was a staunch supporter of Cowboy Athletics.   
     Bob was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was dedicated to his family and community and he will be greatly missed. 
    He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Wright Sr.; mother Helen Wright Roulaine; step-father, Emmett Roulaine; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Andy and Jean Jones; and son-in-law, Jody Metcalf.
    Bob is survived by his wife, Andrea of the home; son, Tyson Wright and Tiffany of Tecumseh, OK; daughters, Tina Metcalf of Broken Bow, OK and Tiffani DeArmond and Neil of Stillwater, OK; brother, Bill Wright and Francie of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Dawson Metcalf, Dustin and Shauna Metcalf, Jayci and Crandle Talley, Logan DeArmond, Emily DeArmond, Grace Wright and Blake Wright; great-grandchildren, Gauge Metcalf and Tessa Talley; his former wife, Kay Cavazos of Stillwater, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
    The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the funeral home.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Idabel with Bro Andy Bowman officiating. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers an account has been established at the McCurtain County National Bank to fund the Bob Wright Memorial FFA Scholarship Fund.
