Obituary of Naomi Battiest Cruz

Naomi Battiest Cruz, age 57 passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at her home in Idabel. She was born on July 26, 1960 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Marcus Battiest and Rachel Watson Battiest.

Naomi was a homemaker. An avid sports fan she played softball when she was younger and liked to watch football. She enjoyed cooking, bead work and loved spending time with family. She moved to Idabel many years ago after living in Bell Gardens, CA for several years. Naomi was a member of the Brighter Day Baptist Church in Watts, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marcus Ray Battiest and Kenneth Battiest; and a sister, Oleta Martinez.

Naomi is survived by her husband, Evelio Cruz of Idabel, OK; daughter, Monica Carillo of Idabel, OK; former husband, Jesus Carillo-Gomez; special nieces, Rachel Dixon of Dierks, AR, Petra Pisani of Bakersfield, CA and Angela Pisani of Idabel, OK; special nephew, David Battiest of San Antonio, TX; several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the White Family Chapel with Rev. Cleland Willis officiating. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the funeral home.
