Obituary of Arlene McNeal

Mrs. Arlene “Miss Mac” McNeal died peacefully at home on February 12th, 2018 in Bixby, Oklahoma at the age of 76.

Arlene is survived by her adoring daughters, Christina McNeal Clark of Jenks, Oklahoma, Rebecca Smith and Son-in-Law Dale Smith, of Bixby, Oklahoma, Sherry Mickleberry and Son-in-Law Craig Mickleberry of Hitchcock, Texas. Sister, Susan Coy and her husband Michael and family of Elk City, Oklahoma, Brother Roger Bonin and his wife Eileen of Lincoln, Nebraska, Grandson, Brandon Clark and wife Tina-Marie Clark and her great-grandchildren, Anthony and Burnadette, Granddaughter Brandi Edens and her great-grandchildren Charles and Chance, Aunt Fern Walker of Oklahoma, her son Tony Paul Walker and wife Jeanean Walker and family, “Mother-in-Law” Barbra Collier of Catoosa, Oklahoma, and sweet friend Shirley Bohbrink of Bixby, Oklahoma, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ilis Mae Hopkins and Henry Arthur and Lou Miller of Idabel, Oklahoma, her loving husband Jerry McNeal of Idabel, Oklahoma, her son Donovan Lee McNeal of Colorado, son Jeffery Scott of Texas, and son Jerald Blake McNeal.
Arlene was born on March 11th, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas to Ilis Mae Hopkins and Henry Arthur Miller. She married Jerry McNeal, her soul mate, February 29th, 1964 and continued their adventures to Idabel, Oklahoma. She graduated with her GED in 1979 and continued her education at the E.T. Dunlap Center.  Arlene and Jerry McNeal worked together at Triple M Construction, Montgomery Wards, McNeal Sales Appliance and Furniture and JCPenney’s.  Her children remember her as a spunky, caring, God-fearing Christian mother who encouraged them to always pursue their goals.

Arlene was an accomplished wife, mother, Mamaw, Aunt, Granny Mac, neighbor and friend to all who met her.  She was a kind-hearted individual who loved God, her country, her family and her friends. She was passionate about making cards and homemade fudge, teaching bible school to the neighborhood kids, decorating with apples and taking pictures with everyone she met. She was an active and dedicated member of the Idabel Downtown Business Association and Gideon Ladies Auxiliary Club. Arlene was known to volunteer her time as a Girl Scout Leader, a softball coach, and a Sunday School teacher. Although Arlene lived in Bixby, Oklahoma, she always stated that Idabel was her home. Arlene never met a stranger, gave amazing hugs and was known throughout the community as a person who loved her family, and above all, God.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the White Family Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2018 at the New Life Family Church, across from the Idabel Middle School with Bro. Elwayne Schaeffer officiating. Arlene will be laid to rest next to her soul mate, Jerry at Canfield Cemetery in Idabel, Oklahoma.

A memorial service will take place at Leonard Marker Funeral Home on February 17th, 2018 at 11:00 am, in Bixby, Oklahoma. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Arlene's life. Family is graciously accepting flowers in Arlene’s memory.
