Obituary of Jean Tapley

Jean Tapley, age 86, passed on Monday, February 12, 2018 at her home in the Pollard Community, OK. She was born on July 23, 1931 in the Harris Community, OK, the daughter of C. L.  and Stella Cain Hendrix. Jean was salutatorian of the 1949 graduating class of Haworth High School.

    Jean worked over 30 years as a Social Worker for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. An avid outdoors person, she would often be found in the roping arena with the boys. She enjoyed reading, fishing and taking care of her dogs and horses. She was a member of the Haworth Missionary Baptist Church and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County.

    She was strong woman, kind and well liked. Jean was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and she will be greatly missed.
 
    She was  preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. W. Tapley; sisters, Edith Tatum, Joan Burns, Letha Romero; and a brother, George Hendrix.

    Jean is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John Tapley and Joanie of Valliant, OK, Jim Tapley and Chris of New Braunfels, TX and Tommy Tapley and Karen of the Pollard Community, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Toni Hall and Kenneth of Ft. Towson, OK;  grandchildren, Heath Mayo, Josh Tapley, Haley Tapley, Jesse Tapley and Jeanette, Amy Adcock and Josh,  Joe Tapley and Mandy, Jahni Tapley Bachman and David, Jennifer Nealis and Jimmy; 12 great-grandchildren;  special friend and caregiver, Betty Havens of the Pollard Community, OK; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends; and her special dogs, Sarah, Bubba, Nacho and wolfie.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the funeral home.

    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Haworth Missionary Baptist Church in Haworth, OK. Interment will follow at the Pollard Cemetery with Bro. Ed Walker officiating.
