Mitchell joined the Army at 17 years old and proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne during WWII. He never spoke a negative word about his service to his country nor the time spent in POW Camp Stalag VIIA in Germany.

He returned to the oilfield work which he loved, living round the world working as a toolpusher until retiring in 1986. He lived in Onalaska, TX for a while before moving to Pearland in 2002.

Mitchell was a 32nd degree Mason, member of the VFW, American Legion and Blind Veterans organizations.

A Good caring man who always wanted to tease and make people laugh.  He was a talker and never met a stranger. Mitchell was a wonderful husband, daddy and PeePaw and he will be greatly missed.
